We stayed at the Hayloft for our honeymoon and had a lovely time. Apartment was clean and well presented with everything you needed provided. We found Penny very accommodating - she even let us use the pool etc after closing so that we could enjoy having it to ourselves.
My husband loved the fishing lakes on site, where we spent 2 whole days enjoying the peace and quiet - my husband fishing (with the jack russell's help) and me reading a good book.
Would definitely recommend :)

We had a fantastic time staying at Jasmine Cottage. On arrival we were warmly greeted and shown around our cottage by Penny. The cottage was fantastic - immaculately cleaned. The cottage is spacious and there is plenty of room. There was 7 of us in total - each room has an ensuite. The kitchen is spacious and well equipt.
The swimming pool was great - sometimes was a little bit busy, but that was more our timing than anything else. The hot tub was a joy to be able to use, and we never had to wait to use this. The childrens play area was a plus.We visited many of Dorsets attractions whilst there - Weymouth etc. Overall a fantastic place to stay and would definitely recommend this to anybody. Thank you Penny :)

A wonderful rural place to stay. We were met by Penny who was friendly and helpful. The spacious Granary was fitted out to a very high standard, well equipped and beautifully clean. The pool and hot tub were great, the girls and I just loved chilling out in them after a busy day sightseeing. Hubby loved the fishing, he caught his first fish on a beautiful summer evening. The location was ideal for sightseeing - Weymouth, Poole, Lyme Regis, Dorchester, Durdle Door, and rural villages with beautiful thatched cottages.
Lots of Pubs around doing great food. We loved The Greenman at Kingstag. A very varied menu and generous portions. There aren't any pubs within easy walking distance, so be prepared to drive.
This was a super place to stay and we will definately be coming back.

We had a lovely time staying at the Victorian Barn from 3rd August "“ 10th August. We booked The Hayloft, which offered beautiful views from the apartment. The lounge area has a high ceiling and the room is clean and fresh with a small kitchen area which provides all the necessities. Throughout the apartment the standard of cleaning is high, the rooms fresh, the beds comfortable and the shower areas modern. My husband felt thoroughly relaxed after his regular visits to the sauna and my two boys had so much fun in the indoor pool. Our main reason for visiting Dorset was to take the boys to Monkey World and The Victorian Barn was ideally located for this and many other attractions. Penny, the owner of The Victorian Barn was very helpful and friendly and we all fell in love with Katie, a very happy Jack Russell.

Just had our third visit and still cannot fault it. Perfect accommodation, beautiful surroundings, play area move has created much nicer area behind accommodation.
A lovely welcome from Penny once again and nice to see Katy and Jazz the most friendliest dogs.
Hope to see you next year.

Just a short note to thank you all for the wonderful time we had while staying at The Lodge over the Jubilee holidays. Although the weather was rotten (a little out of your control, I must admit!), we still had a really pleasant time.
We are planning a holiday in Scotland for next year but are sure to see you in 2014!

Just got back today and had to write on here how fantastic this place is. We stayed here purposely for the fishing and the location for days out to Weymouth, Dorchester etc.
Arrived and was greeted by the friendly face of Penny, the owner, we was then taken to a lovely looking cottage where we was shown around to find it was absolutely amazing! Everything was cleaned to an extremely high standard, was very nicely decorated and felt homely the moment you walked through the door. All rooms looked freshly decorated as if we had just walked into a brand new show home. All bedrooms again were immaculate and very relaxing. All bathrooms were clean to an exceptional standard and again a freshly decorated feel.
Penny and Derek were helpful and friendly as were there dogs especially Katy the excitable Jack Russell. Fishing was great too had a fair few fish biggest was about 10lbs but the condition of the fish were fantastic. The location is beautiful you really feel in the middle of nowhere, complete peace and quiet. The gym and pool all looked great even though we did not make use of them.
Would come back again tomorrow in a heartbeat.

Together with my family we spent an idyllic week in Dorset, despite the rain and wind (we went Jubilee Week). We stayed in Beatrice House, 8 adults and 1 7 year old, and we had a ball. The house was spacious, clean and fully equipped for us, never had so many utensils before and serving dishes!! The pool, gym, sauna and hot tub were fab and when we asked Penny if the opening time for the pool on our last full day could be extended it was no problem. On the run up to the holiday I was in regular email contact regarding Jubilee Celebrations and local events and can only praise you for your swift response with all the info we could need. I had such high hopes for this holiday and it more than surpassed my expectations. The house was wonderful, the location idyllic and the staff including Katy the dog, very friendly, approachable and accommodating. I have recommended The Barns to several friends and hope to make a return visit to hopefully watch the stars from the hot tub!! Thank you all for helping to make my dream holiday a reality.

We stayed here with my young son (1 and 4 months) just recently. Before we set off the owners contacted us and offered us a free upgrade from the Byre to the Granary.
On arrival we were welcomed with spacious and clean accommodation. The rooms were large and we found the kitchen to have all you would expect in terms of facilities and utensils from a self catering establishment.
The location is beautiful and you can set off in all directions to attractions. The onsite gym and pool were appreciated, especially as the weather looked like it may be unkind, although this did not turn out to be the case.
We found the owners to be welcoming and helpful.
I loved the fishing lakes, (free to guests) where I caught several sizeable carp and was fortunate to also catch a very large carp in the silverfish lake, possibly 12 lb + I think it was maybe transferred there via the close by specimen lake. In my excitement I forgot to return it to its correct home!
We went to the Gaggle of Geese for a superb evening meal and there are many other good pubs close by.
We will be back.

We stayed at the Victorian Barn in mid April, with our 11month old daughter. The main attraction for staying at the Barn were the excellent onsite facilities, the swimming pool was heated and changing facilities accessible for a family. The facilites are well thought through and are excellently maintained. The barn is set in a beautiful countryside location and has breathtaking views of the landscape. We were impressed with the accomodation it has recently been refurbished to a very high standard. The owner, Penny was extremely welcoming and helpful, overall we would highly recommend staying at the Victorian Barn.

We spent New Year 2011 at The Victorian Barn. There were 23 of us and we had Byre, The Hayloft, Beatrice and The Granary. It was perfect for a large group as we all socialized and ate in Beatrice as Penny kindly gave us trestle tables to push together. We had a mixture of ages to there was something for everyone. The weather wasn't very good so the pool/hot tub and even the fishing lake kept kids, mums and dads happy. The accommodation was very spacious, clean and modern and Penny couldn't have been more friendly, helpful and accommodating. I would highly recommend the Victorian Barn.

What a find! I have returned from a fishing/ family holiday at the victorian barn. We had a brilliant time. I enjoyed fishing with my son while my daughter and wife enjoyed the pool which was almost next to our suite. The lakes were lovely and peaceful and we caught some big fish, which pleased my son. We have already booked for next year!
Stayed November 2011, travelled with family
We stayed for a short week-end break in The Byre during November 2011. The Byre was warm and cosy and had everything we required. When we arrived the stars at night were fantastic and we couldn't stop gazing at them. The children loved the fishing, and spending time in the pool, hot tub and sauna and would like to have stayed longer. We checked out in the morning but were able to use all of the facilities for the rest of the day - bargain! Hope to return in the warmer weather when we can sit by the lakes and catch the fish. Not much luck this time but I have a lovely picture of a just under 20lb common carp caught by the fishers next to us on the middle lake on Sunday, 20th November. Thank you Penny for all your kindnesses and for making ours a very lovely stay. Looking forward to seeing you again!
