Self Catering Accommodation FAQ's


What type of payment do you accept?

Payments can be made by debit card or bank transfer (BAC’s). Sorry, we are unable to accept credit card payments unless otherwise agreed.    

What’s included in my stay?

We provide tea, coffee, sugar, milk, salt/pepper and cakes or biscuits. We also provide a starter pack of dishwasher tablets, washing up liquid, tea towels, dishcloth and toilet rolls. Electricity, heating, use of our onsite facilities including our indoor swimming pool, sauna, gym, hot tub, play area, outside table tennis (April - September) and three coarse fishing lakes are also included. The games room has books and board games for your use and return, there is a coin operated system for the pool table, football table and quiz machine.  Superfast broadband is complimentary on a fair usage policy.  Gaming/Films/Neflix and excessive usage may incur a small charge. Ample onsite safe parking.

Do you provide cots, highchairs & towels?

We can provide cots & highchairs (small charge) on request, subject to availability. We provide one hand towel and one bath towel per person. Please bring your own cot bedding and swimming towels.

What time can I arrive and what time do I have to depart?

Properties are available between 4pm - 6pm on day of arrival.  The arrival reception closes at 6pm so please notify us if you are delayed.  This is a quiet area so therefore we ask that no-one arrives after 10pm. Departure time is 10am unless otherwise agreed.

What facilities do the properties have?

All properties have a fully equipped kitchen as well as an iron/ironing board and hair dryer. Living areas have comfortable seating, dining table and chairs for the stated number. All properties have a colour TV with Freeview.

What if there’s a fire?

There is full information in our T&C’s and in the welcome pack (in the properties on arrival) please do make sure you read this. We have an alarm system which will alert you to exit the properties and meet in The Victorian Barn car park by the fire meeting point sign. Please do not attempt to access the properties to retrieve any belongings. A member of the team will be there to assist you.

Will there be a Wedding at The Victorian Barn during my stay?

When booking a self-catering holiday within The Victorian Barn please be assured that we do not hold Weddings during your stay.

Can I arrange to have private access to the Swimming Pool?

Yes this could be arranged subject to availability. Please ask about this on booking.

What is the changeover day?

Most commonly throughout our properties ‘changeover’ or start days tend to be a Friday or Monday. We are also able to offer short weekend and mid-week breaks for a minimum of two nights.

Can we invite friends to stay?

Yes, just inform us at the earliest opportunity that friends might be joining you. As long as your party does not exceed the maximum capacity of the property there will be no extra charge.

Do you accept pets?

Regrettably no - owing to the nature of The Victorian Barn, pets are not permitted.

Do you have a restaurant on site?

We do not have a restaurant but we do have a handful of wonderful caterers. If you would like to experience their delightful cooking please do let us know and we can arrange this on booking. We are also very lucky to have wonderful local pubs on our doorstep – please do let us know if you would like us to arrange something for you.

Are we able to have a BBQ?

Yes you can have a BBQ on your patio close to your accommodation. Sorry we do not have permanent BBQ's on site so we suggest using disposable BBQ’s. We have an ample supply of fire bricks on which to put your BBQ.

Do you accept grocery deliveries?

Yes. We recommend checking that the supplier will let us take delivery just in case you are not available when they deliver. When ordering your groceries please contact us about the delivery address.

No Smoking

We do not permit smoking inside the properties. We have outside benches situated around the properties which have ash trays and sand buckets.

What payments are required?

In order to confirm your booking, we request a non-refundable deposit of 20% of the total cost. This deposit can be paid by card or bank transfer (BAC’s). Your booking will be confirmed via email. The balance (including bottle disposal, for groups of 10 adults or more) will become due 8 weeks prior to arrival and can be paid by debit card or BAC’s. Sorry, we are unable to accept credit card payments for the balance. For bookings made less than 8 weeks before arrival; the total amount will become payable at the time of booking. For families and groups of up to 9 guests a refundable security deposit of £100 per property will become due with the final balance.  For families and groups of more than 10 guests a refundable security deposit of £20 per person (maximum £500) will become due with the final balance. The security deposit will be refunded within 7 days following your stay less any expenses for excessive breakages, damage and cleaning.
