Wedding Guest FAQ's

How do I book accommodation and how many nights do you offer?

We are able to offer 1-7 night stays. We have king rooms, double rooms, twin rooms and triple rooms available. The Bride & Groom will be in charge of the allocation of the rooms. Please email us at or call us on 01258 817501 to arrange the initial booking.

Does the bar take card and where is the nearest ATM?

The bar is a cash bar only. If you need to withdraw cash the closest ATM is 4 miles away (Sturminster Newton).

What is included in the room rate?

We provide tea, coffee, sugar, milk, bottled water and biscuits in the shared kitchen. We also provide a starter pack of dishwasher tablets, washing up liquid, tea towels, dishcloth and toilet rolls. Electricity, heating, use of our onsite facilities including our indoor swimming pool, sauna, gym, play area, games room and three coarse fishing lakes are also included. Superfast broadband is complimentary. 

What time are the facilities available?

The facilities are available until 8pm on the day before the wedding. On the day of the wedding the facilities will be open from 8am but will shut at midday. The facilities will not open again until 8am the following day.

What time can I arrive and what time is check-out?

For a two night stay arrival is 4pm on the day before the wedding and then departure is 11am the day after the wedding. For a one night stay arrival is 11am on the day of the wedding, departure is 11am.

I’m staying the night before - do you have a restaurant on site?

We do not have a restaurant but there is an opportunity to order takeaways from Sturminster Newton or Blandford Forum. We also suggest collaborating on a supermarket delivery to be delivered to your property and preparing a buffet or big meal!

Are we able to use the hot tubs?

For health and safety reasons the hot tubs will not be available at any point during the Wedding celebrations.

Can I bring my own alcohol?

On the wedding day only drinks purchased from The Victorian Barn may be consumed in the public areas. This includes The Osborne Hall, Albert Suite, Garden Room, the smoking area and the patio outside of these areas.  Guests will be asked to leave these areas if they do not adhere to this request. You are able to provide alcohol for your personal use in your accommodation only

Do you provide cots, highchairs & towels?

We can provide cots & highchairs (small charge) on request, subject to availability. We provide one hand towel and one bath towel per person. Please bring your own cot bedding and swimming towels.

Can I sleep on the sofa?

We do not allow extra guests/ last minute guests or children to sleep on sofas, floors etc. It is important that we have all guests’ names including children and babies so that in the event of a fire we are able to account for everyone in the building. If we do not have a guests name then they may not be permitted to stay.

What facilities do the properties have?

All properties have a fully equipped kitchen as well as an iron/ironing board and hair dryer. Living areas have comfortable seating, dining table and chairs for the stated number. All properties have a colour TV with Freeview.

What time does the bar open & shut?

The bar opens after the ceremony and it shuts at 12pm.

Am I able to camp or use a campervan?

Due to the areas outstanding natural beauty we do not permit camping of any type. We have recommended camping grounds and caravan parks close by. Please contact us for further information.

Can we smoke inside the property?

We do not permit smoking inside the properties. We have outside benches situated around the area which have ash trays and sand buckets.

Do you accept pets?

Regrettably no - owing to the nature of The Victorian Barn, pets are not permitted.

Do you offer discounts on large room bookings?

We always pride ourselves on offering our very best price.

Do you have parking on-site?

Yes. We have ample, safe, free on-site parking.
