April in Dorset - Babies, Bluebells & Broadchurch!

What no April showers!

We cannot express how busy we have been over these last couple of months – hen parties, family holidays, group gatherings the list goes on! Not only this but wedding season is finally upon us. This month we have had two weddings. We kicked off with the largest wedding ever held at the Victorian Barn. A huge achievement for the whole team & our wonderful caterers. We have been so busy that we are expecting a new team member in August so watch this space…

But that’s enough about us – let’s move on!

Did you know that in the UK, April is national pet month and that in 2013 April was the 250th most common name for a baby girl? April brings wonderful flowers; the Bluebell! (Scientifically known as the Hyacinthoides non-scripta but I think we will just stick to Bluebell…) The Bluebells transform our woodland in springtime and it’s not a surprise that the bluebell is one of the nation’s best-loved wild flowers. We are very lucky at the Victorian Barn as our local woodlands are a carpet of intense blue which is arguably one of nature’s stunning displays. Our team drive past this beautiful scenery every day and we all wish that it was appreciated more…

Why don’t you pay us and the bluebells a visit? For our overseas visitors, the £ has dropped which makes holidaying an affordable affair and for our local brits a staycation is a great way to save some pennies!

If you need further convincing – Broadchurch! The third and final series of Broadchurch has sadly come to an end, but wasn’t it fantastic? Filming took place in our lovely Dorset throughout 2016. The stunning towering cliffs at West Bay were once again an integral part of the show & is one of the things we love! We also saw new Dorset locations on screen including Littlebredy and Bridehead House. An idyllic location for a perfect holiday – book your break to the real “Broadchurch”!
