My second waggy tale story. Adventures at The Victorian Barn & Dairy House Farm.

First let me introduce myself again, my name is Katy, I was born 26th September 2008, I am a black and white Jack Russell, female and petite. GSOH.
All the cattle have returned from keep and are safely tucked up in their barns. Farmer Derek wormed the animals and has been busy clipping the excess hair from their backs so they don’t get too hot in the barns. Good farming practice. I now get the opportunity to ride in the tractor with the farmer; it’s always warm and cosy in there. He has to lift me out because it is too high for me to jump and as we are driving down to the fields I get excited when I see a rabbit, but he still doesn’t let me out.
Jazz, tri colour Border collie, my live in partner, runs by the side of the tractor she hates being confined in vehicles cars and tractors. It all stems back from when we went puppy training, she didn’t get on with the tutor so the travelling in the car there and back was always traumatic! Heaven help us if she has to go to the vets. We do get on well together, she has her large crate and I have a small crate, the doors are always open, these are in the cheese room which now has a WARM Rayburn as the boiler man has been to relight. I sometimes sneak in to the farmhouse kitchen where the Aga is always warm. I am not allowed in there very often.
Farmer Derek has bought a new machine for bedding down the animals and it also mixes the feed he is very pleased. When it’s loading time for the cattle we like to join in the fun and games, sometimes we get shouted at, but we know he loves us really. We always get a stroke on the head afterwards. When we get home, covered in mud we have to sit in the crate a while to dry off before supper.
This weekend we have guests arriving celebrating early Christmas, it looks like the diet is on hold. I will have to put on my cutest tail wagging meeting and greeting skills to impress. Although I am not allowed into the houses or apartments these are strictly pet free. Looks like most weekends will be busy in the self catering holiday accommodation up until the New Year. The diet starts 2014.
I have had some lovely short breaks checking out the fishermen and their bait, very tasty. I always enjoy watching the fishing, chasing the Canada geese and Cormorants around the three lakes.

Now the clocks have gone back I can’t get used to losing that hour of daylight here in Rural Dorset, roll on the spring.
